Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. (Deuteronomy 11:19 - CSB)
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16,16 - CSB)
The Bible is very important! Every word in the Bible (in it's original language)comes from God and therefore every word in the Bible is true. Within the Bible are many basic truths that need to be learned and passed on to the next generation.
One of the best ways of learning basic Bible truths is by using a "Catechism". What is a "Catechism"? A "Catechism" is a summary of all the basic truths found in the Bible. It helps us to understand the Bible!
There have been many "Catechisms" over the years to help families and churches teach their children, but one of the very best ones is the "Heidelberg Catechism". It has been used for years to train up the next generation and provide a good solid foundation for Christians. I plan to use it here to teach through basic Bible truths. I hope it will be helpful!
The curriculum I will be using comes from the United Reformed Churches. The title is "Heidelberg Catechism Curriculum for Families", and the workbook can be printed off here.
If you are interested in learning the basic Bible truths of the Bible, I encourage you to follow along with us here. We can study these precious basic truths together!
